about

This track is best summed up as being about the constant state of change that is the nature of life.
The spark which ignited the writing process was actually a little dark; I saw a dead bird on the beach, & considered the idea that whilst it was dead, it was not gone. It remained in existence by means of the transition process that is decay. I then began to toy with the phrase "In absence of itself" as a way of encapsulating that observation.
For the song I thought that perhaps a vinyl record reaching its conclusion as the needle reaches its center vaguely expressed the same idea...

lyrics

Enjoying crisp indulgences on a heavy slow Sunday.
Traipsing & lumbering up over the rise, over the top & into Monday morning.

A puzzle piece with a chipped edge, taunted by a distant ticking clock.
The needle moves to center circle & the record becomes in absence of itself.

Creativity gurgles as a setback glows like morning sun.
Occupations continue to hail, stimulating yet clashing as they react with the core.

Tugging to & from, caught between now & then…
On the days horizon remains the self.
Awaiting in suspense for the chance, for the chance to bloom.

A puzzle piece with a chipped edge, taunted by a distant ticking clock.
The needle moves to center circle & the record becomes in absence of itself.
